AIONA Automation is the exclusive partner of HMS Networks, the pioneer and trailblazer for PLC remote maintenance and operator of the world’s largest industrial VPN network, eWON Talk2M. eWON remote solutions focus on security and infrastructure and connect more than 500,000 devices and machines worldwide. Machine builders and users can securely access the industrial systems connected to the eWON network from any location. The solutions enable seamless and secure IIoT functionality and create the basis for remote maintenance, troubleshooting, and machine-data visualization.

In addition to a secure connection to machines and devices, in recent years there has been growing demand to make optimal use of the generated machine data in order to sustainably improve support and productivity – for example, with the goal of introducing effective predictive maintenance.

The challenge

With the eWON Flexy industrial M2M router, AIONA enables its customers to generate machine data and make it securely available worldwide via the Talk2M VPN network.

But the offering was not meant to stop there, and AIONA Automation took on the challenge of complementing the eWON Flexy technology with an IIoT cloud solution. The ambitious goal: to enable eWON Flexy users, through a simple process, to visualize their machine data on a freely configurable dashboard, generate analyses and reports, and benefit from alarm management.

 

The solution

AIONA Automation GmbH evaluated various IoT platforms and decided to build its ASIOS IIoT Cloud solution on the basis of the IoT product IoTECPRO, in collaboration with IoT Internet of Things GmbH. IoTECPRO already had the required functionalities to visualize machine data and process it according to individual requirements. The component to be developed was a plug-and-play link between the ASIOS software and the eWON Flexy routers in use. IoT Internet of Things GmbH created a self-service-capable solution in which users can, with the help of a wizard and in just a few steps, establish the link to their devices and benefit from all the functionalities of the ASIOS IIoT Cloud:

  • After creating a license key, AIONA customers log in to the ASIOS system. Through registration, the link is established via their own Talk2M account and synchronized with the Flexy routers connected to the eWON network.
  • From this point on, the channel data of the devices and machines appears, visualized on the ASIOS dashboard via selectable and configurable widgets.
  • Thanks to sophisticated user management, user roles can be assigned flexibly.
  • Via an app version, the machine data is also available on the go – so alarm notifications reach ASIOS users on mobile devices too.
  • ASIOS also enables convenient creation of service logs for individual devices and offers an automatic report generator.
  • All data generated in ASIOS can be exported to other IT systems as standard.
